Sheryl Crow Welcomes Lukas Nelson For Allman Brothers Cover In Virginia
By Scott Bernstein Jun 22, 2017 • 1:03 pm PDT

Singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow brought a tour in support of Be Myself to the Filene Center at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia on Wednesday night. Crow and her band were joined by Lukas Nelson for a cover of “Midnight Rider” by the Allman Brothers Band as part of the evening’s encore.
Nelson was on hand to open the concert with his Promise Of The Real outfit. Sheryl recently revived her cover of “Midnight Rider” in the days after Gregg Allman’s death and has welcomed Lukas for a number of versions including last night’s take. She had been known to perform the tune in 2002, but had shelved it until earlier this tour. Crow also played “Midnight Rider” with the Allman Brothers Band a handful of times including as part of the legendary act’s 40th Anniversary Run at the Beacon Theatre in New York City back in 2009.
