It’s been six years since electrifying soul singer Sharon Jones passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 60 years old. On April 16, 2016 — just months before she died — Sharon and her longtime band The Dap Kings delivered a concert for Seattle independent radio station KEXP.

The concert in front of 2,000 fans marked the grand opening of KEXP’s new Seattle Center campus in 2016. The station’s John Richards introduced Sharon Jones and company saying, “If you listen to KEXP, you know this band behind me. Every station in the world should be playing this band. We play them daily, if not hourly at times…Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings are here live on KEXP.”

Sharon then proceeded to lead the Dap Kings through a soul-soaked set beginning with the sultry favorite “100 Days, 100 Nights.” The set also included “People Don’t Get What They Deserve,” “Natural Born Lover,” “Road Of Broken Hearted Men” and more. Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings brought the performance to a close with the boisterous bop “Stranger To My Happiness.”
