Second Line Parade Honors Fats Domino In New Orleans

Rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Fats Domino passed away last week at the age of 89. The legendary New Orleans native was honored yesterday with a traditional second line parade through the Crescent City he called home.
The second line parade featured Domino’s music played by a brass ensemble. The traditional memorial service began Wednesday evening at Vaughan’s Lounge in the Bywater neighborhood and proceeded across the St. Claude Avenue bridge to the 9th Ward neighborhood, ending at Domino’s residence on Caffin Avenue.
Fellow New Orleans musicians including Dr. John and Galactic drummer Stanton Moore participated in the second line. A pair of videos posted by NOLA.com from yesterday’s second line parade honoring Fats Domino can be viewed below:
