Sarah Pagé Departs The Barr Brothers
Harpist Sarah Pagé has been a core member of The Barr Brothers since soon after Brad Barr and Andrew Barr formed the band following The Slip’s heyday. Brad and Andrew heard Sarah rehearsing through the walls of their Montreal apartment and quickly enlisted her services for their fledgling project. In surprising news, Pagé and The Barr Brothers have announced Sarah will be moving on from the band in 2018.
Pagé issued the following statement, “It’s the start of a new year and 2018 will be particularly full of change and renewal for me. I’m sad to say that I won’t be carrying my collaboration with The Barr Brothers forward into the new year. It’s been a long and colourful journey and I’d like to thank all of the fans and friends I’ve made along the way for lending me your generous support over the past decade. I will miss you all. I will be continuing to perform solo shows throughout the year, collaborating with many wonderful Montreal friends as well as working on a new project with Ayin de Sela, Miriam de Sela and Les 7 doigts. Hope to see you down the road…”
The Barr Brothers statement reads, “After nearly a decade of playing music and traveling the world together, it is with much gratitude that we say a loving farewell to our harpist Sarah Pagé, who will not be moving forward with us in 2018. Sarah’s creative and innovative contributions to our music have been massive and we wish her the very best on all her future explorations. We’re raising a glass to you Sarah, and to all that you have given to this music. I’m sure you will all be hearing much more from her in the future.”
There’s no word yet on whether The Barr Brothers will replace Sarah. Later this month, The Barr Brothers kick off a European tour. Watch The Barr Brothers featuring Sarah Page perform a session for KEXP:
