Sarah Jarosz shared the video for “Johnny.” The song appears on the singer-songwriter’s 2020 album, World On The Ground.
Inspired by Sarah’s upbringing in the small Texas town of Wimberley, World On The Ground arrived on June 5 via Rounder Records. “Johnny” is the lead single from the new LP and nabbed a “Best Songs of 2020” nod by TIME Magazine. Grant Claire — who has also worked with The War and Treaty — directed the visual for the song, which utilizes Dadaist imagery. Sarah detailed working with Grant in an interview with the Austin Chronicle, who premiered by the video.
“Grant Claire put the concept for the video together, which we had to tweak a little bit due to filming limitations” she said. “I wound up shooting the whole thing in front of a green screen. But I really loved his vision for it being this colorful, collage-heavy, kind of trippy video for this song. I always have a lot of commentary when working on the visuals that go with my songs, and I really enjoyed working with Grant on this.”
