Santigold (Santi White) delivered an NPR Tiny Desk Concert. White offered a career-spanning set comprised of Santigold songs as well as a tune from her former group Stiffed.
Santigold’s band assembled for the occasion — the singer-songwriter recently had to cancel her North American tour — included her former Stiffed bandmate drummer Chuck Treece and George Lewis Jr. (Twin Shadow) on bass. Ray Brady (guitar/synth) and backing vocalists Melanie Nyema and Stephany Mora rounded out the live group. White launched her Tiny Desk with a pair of songs, “L.E.S. Artistes” and “I’m A Lady,” from her 2008 self-titled debut album Santogold (the spelling the artist used at the time).
Santi then turned to material from her latest album, 2022’s Spirituals, beginning with “Shake” followed by “Fall First.” Santigold took it back to her days fronting Stiffed to close the session with “Ain’t Got Enough” from the punk band’s 2005 debut LP, Burned Again.
