released a video for their cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes.” The visual comes as a tribute to frontline workers with proceeds from the song benefitting food banks across the country.

Sammy Hagar & The Circle consists of Sammy Hagar on guitar and lead vocals, drummer Jason Bonham, original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and guitarist Vic Johnson. The cover from the supergroup comes just weeks after both David Bowie’s birthday on January 8 as well as the anniversary of his death on January 10.

Hagar detailed the song selection in the notes accompanying the video. Read his words below:

David Bowie’s “Heroes” is one of my favorite songs ever, and a chance to tip our hat to all those frontline workers on every level from the grocery stores, to the policeman and firefighters, doctors etc. that put their own lives at risk & do their jobs to help others. For us it kind of sums up 2020, the whole year. And to release it so close to his birthday and passing just makes it that more special. – Sammy
