Singer-songwriter Sam Blasucci unveiled a stripped-down acoustic version of The Cranberries’ 1993 smash “Linger.” The cover is the latest preview of the Mapache co-founder’s debut solo album, Off My Stars, which is set for release via Innovative Leisure on June 2.
Sam Blasucci, who along with bandmate Clay Finch records and performs under the Mapache moniker, tapped Johnny Payne to produce Off My Stars. Payne also played a number of different instruments on the 12-track LP, which was recorded at Dan Horne’s Lone Palm Studios. Blasucci previously shared “Turn Yourself Around” and “Sha La La” from the pending album.

Off My Stars features covers of Dido’s “Thank You” and Jimmy Fontana’s “Il Mondo” in addition to Blasucci’s take on “Linger.” Cranberries members Dolores O’Riordan and Noel Hogan wrote “Linger” for inclusion on the Irish band’s debut studio album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?. “There was nothing ironic or gimmicky about wanting to do those,” Blasucci said in regards the covers he selected. “I just really, really love those songs.”
