NBC’s singing competition program The Voice aired its 14th season finale on Tuesday evening. Ryan Adams performed one of his songs alongside finalist Britton Buchanan.

Adams accompanied Buchanan on “To Be Without You,” which appeared on the former’s 2017 album Prisoner. Previously eliminated The Voice contestant Dylan Hartigan sang Adams’ “Come Pick Me Up” during an earlier season 14 episode. The 18-year-old Buchanan lost to the 15-year-old season 14 winner Brynn Cartelli.

“You are the real deal,” Adams wrote on Instagram regarding Buchanan. “I am so proud of you. You keep on writing those songs and being the star you are.”

Adams also wrote that he “loved every minute of today,” while offering praise to The Voice coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and Alicia Keys, as well as the show’s band and crew.
