Nearly a decade after forming, Virginia’s The Infamous Stringdusters are no longer a secret kept to the jam scene. Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams recognized the five-piece’s talents and had the ‘Dusters, as well as vocalist Nicki Bluhm, back him for a series of shows including an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Monday night.
Ryan, The Infamous Stringdusters and Nicki delivered a gorgeous take of “Oh My Sweet Carolina” from Adams’ 2000 solo debut studio album Heartbreaker. The harmonies were delicate and the members of the ‘Dusters picked just the right spots to fill in with dobro, bass, fiddle, guitar and banjo. “Oh My Sweet Carolina” is one of the most beautiful songs in Ryan’s repertoire and with the addition of Bluhm and the ‘Dusters the national television audience was treated to an exquisite rendition.
