Rush bassist Geddy Lee is asking a question that has long been on the minds of most musicians: Are Bass Players Human Too? Geddy aims to find out in the new Banger Films/MTV series Geddy Lee: Asks Are Bass Players Human Too? set to premiere on Paramount+ December 5 and featuring renowned bassists Les Claypool, Krist Novoselic and more.

The program will see the low-end third of the Holy Triumvirate traveling “to the homes of some of music’s most renowned bass players,” as per a press release, to delve “into the stories that make these musicians stand out.” Along with Claypool and Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, the new docuseries features Melissa Auf der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins) and Metallica’s Rob Trujillo.

“The idea for this show was born out of interviews I did for my first book The Big, Beautiful Book of Bass,” Lee noted. “I was struck that these accomplished musicians also lived incredibly interesting, multifaceted lives offstage. Who knew bass players were so effin’ human?”

Lee is referencing another book he has on the horizon, My Effin’ Life. The publishing date for the memoir is November 14 via Harper. The Rush bassist will embark on a book tour around My Effin’ Life which will see him in New York, Montreal, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Glasgow, London and more.
