Radio host Eddie Trunk made news earlier this month when he brought up the idea of Rush members Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee touring and creating music together without Neil Peart. Lifeson reportedly shot down the rumors, as he told a confidante there’s no LeeLifeson collaboration in the works.
As per Ultimate Classic Rock, former DJ Donna Halper talked about the rumors with Lifeson recently. The woman who helped Rush break through in America shared a Facebook post about her conversation with Alex. “I asked him about the online rumors and he told me there’s no LeeLifeson collaboration in the works. Both Geddy and Alex keep in close touch, of course, but both are very busy with their own projects. And neither has any plans for forming a band or touring or anything like that in the immediate future. As Alex just told me, the rumors are only rumors. And now you know… the rest of the story, direct from Alex himself,” Halper wrote.
Trunk himself walked back his original comments, “My comments about Rush last week were rumor and speculation as stated. Unfortunately some sites are posting headlines from it as click bait. None of this was fact in anyway or from the band or management. Welcome to ‘media’ world today sadly.. it was simply a conversation and rumors talking with a fan as a fan.”
Rush last shared the stage on August 1, 2015. On that night, the famed Canadian power-rock trio completed an extensive tour that they mentioned would probably be their last.
