Run The Jewels Release New Album ‘RTJ4’

Run The Jewels released their new album, RTJ4, on streaming services. The record was set for release on Friday, June 5 and is available to download for free or to pay what you want, with all proceeds going to the National Lawyers Guild Mass Defense Fund.

A physical version of RTJ4 is due in September. Guests on the album include Mavis Staples, Zach De La Rocha of Rage Against The Machine, Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age, Pharell Williams, DJ Premier, 2 Chainz and Greg Nice.

Run The Jewels’ consists of Killer Mike and El-P (strong>Jaime Meline), who shared the following statement along with the surprise album release:

Fuck it, why wait.

The world is infested with bullshit so here’s something raw to listen to while you deal with it all. We hope it brings you some joy. Stay safe and hopeful out there and thank you for giving two friends a chance to be heard and do what they love.

Killer Mike recently gave an impassioned speech in Atlanta in response to the protests there and elsewhere around the world following the death of George Floyd while being forcibly detained by Minneapolis police officers. Killer Mike also appeared on Monday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen to further discuss aspects of racial inequality and systemic racism against black people and other people of color.
