The Roots recently hosted the return of their annual Roots Picnic 2022 music festival in their hometown of Philadelphia. The hip-hop band released pro-shot video footage of their performance of “The Next Movement” at TD Pavilion at The Mann.

The Roots’ appearance at this year’s Roots Picnic saw the band backing Mary J. Blige for the first time. Others who appeared at the two day-event were Kamasi Washington, Summer Walker, Wizkid, Kirk Franklin, Jazmine Sullivan, Rick Ross and more.

Released as a single off their 1999 breakout album, Things Fall A Part, the original version of “The Next Movement” featured contributions from DJ Jazzy Jeff and Jazzyfatnastees. Watch Black Thought lead The Roots on “The Next Movement” live at Roots Picnic 2022 below:
