Last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon featured a performance by Bilal. The vocalist was accompanied by his frequent collaborators and the program’s house band The Roots.

The collaborative performance featured the song “It Ain’t Fair,” which the band and singer recorded for the soundtrack to the feature film Detroit. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the movie depicts the events of the 12th Street Riot, which took place in Detroit in 1967. The soundtrack was issued by the renowned Motor City label Motown Records and includes classic cuts by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, The Dramatics, Martha & The Vandellas and others.
