Saturday night saw Umphrey’s McGee continue a brief run of shows through Florida by stopping at The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater for a performance. UM welcomed special guest Roosevelt Collier to the stage augment two of their classic songs with his steel guitar.

Umphrey’s started the show with “You’ve Got The Wrong Guy” which segued into a monster, nearly 20 minute rendition of “All In Time” and was followed by “Piranhas” “Go To Hell” and longtime staple “August.” Next the band brought out Collier to assist on two UM originals, first giving “Much Obliged” a turn before transitioning to the emotionally uplifting “Glory” with the steel guitar singing beside the swelling guitars of Jake Cinninger and Brendan Bayliss. Collier, who had previously joined UM on stage in November 2010 at the Bear Creek festival, left the band to close out the first set with “Rocker Part 2.”

The second set was built around heavy hitters including the opening, location appropriate “Miami Virtue” as well as extended takes on “Wappy Sprayberry” and “Mulche’s Odyssey” and the over 20 minute set closing instrumental, “Nothing Too Fancy.” The evening by the beach came to a close with a “Booth Love” encore.
