Ron Carter delivered a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert, which NPR Music shared on the legendary jazz bassist’s 85th birthday today. Carter offered his Tiny Desk from the famed Blue Note jazz club in New York City.
Backed by pianist Donald Vega and guitarist Russell Malone, Carter — who holds the Guinness World Record as the most-recorded bassist in history over the course of his six-decade career — opened up the Tiny Desk with “Candelight” from his 1985 album Telephone. Carter then shows why he’s the most recorded bassist of all time with an amazing solo bass piece entitled “Blues For Tiny Desk.” The trio closed out the performance with the composition “Eddie’s Theme.”
