The Rolling Stones‘ 2021 U.S. Tour came to Minneapolis on Sunday, where frontman Mick Jagger paid tribute to hometown hero Prince. Jagger sang portions of two of the late musician’s songs last night at U.S. Bank Stadium as “Miss You” featured a bit of “Controversy” and “Midnight Rambler” included a line from “Purple Rain.”

The legendary rock band delivered a 19-song performance in Minneapolis. While the setlist was similar to those of other stops on the current tour, there were a few changes. “Monkey Man” won out in fan-voting and was performed for the first time since August 5, 2019 as per Setlist.FM. The Let It Bleed classic arrived in the four-slot and was followed by The Rolling Stones’ Black And Blue ballad “Fool To Cry,” last played on June 26, 2018. Fans in Minneapolis were the first U.S. crowd to witness “Fool To Cry” since 1999.

“Miss You” was played later in the night after guitarist Keith Richards fronted the band on “Connection” and “Before They Make Me Run.” Jagger urged bassist Daryl Jones on for a solo and sang “I wish there was no black and white” from “Controversy,” the title track off Prince’s 1981 album. Next up was “Midnight Rambler.” Mick worked the line “I only want to see you in the purple rain” from The Purple One’s 1984 hit into his vamp.

Last night’s main set concluded with a run of “Paint It Black,” “Sympathy For The Devil” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” The Rolling Stones once again encored with “Gimme Shelter” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” to end the concert in Minneapolis on Sunday as they have for all 2021 tour stops.
