Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Announces Nominees For 2018 Induction

The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame has announced the nominees for induction on April 14, 2018. Nineteen nominees are eligible including nine that are on the ballot for the first time. Now, more than 900 artists, historians and other members of the music industry will vote on which acts will be inducted at Public Auditorium in Cleveland next April.

Legendary New Orleans funk act The Meters are once again up for induction as are proto-punk band MC5 and new wave group The Cars. Radiohead and Rage Against The Machine made the list in their first year of eligibility. Other acts on the ballot for the first time are Eurythmics, Dire Straits, Judas Priest, Kate Bush, The Moody Blues, Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Bon Jovi, Depeche Mode, J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan and Link Wray round out the list of nominees.

To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of induction. The 2018 Nominees had to release their first official recording no later than 1992. Fans can take part in the induction selection process by casting votes here through December 5.

Look for the inductees to be revealed in December. HBO will once again air the ceremony, which as mentioned will take place at Cleveland’s Public Auditorium on April 14.
