Tampa Bay’s The Ries Brothers were filmed performing their song “Recluse” for the forthcoming InstaBAND documentary. JamBase is pleased to premiere the duo’s “Recluse” video.
The Ries Brothers consist of brothers Charlie Ries and Kevin Jordan Ries. Charlie not only plays drums and sings, but he also provides bass tones via a keyboard as Kevin rips on guitar. While the pair have been homebound due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, they provide fans with a series of Monday night livestreams on Facebook cleverly titled “Give Monday Some Riespect.”

“Recluse is an uptempo, funk inspired song that deals with the process of getting out of your shell,” Charlie Ries told JamBase. “For those of us who tend to be more reclusive or withdrawn in life, I feel there is always some part of us, big or small who wants to shed that shell of shyness and go out and realize our full potential. It’s a song about standing up for yourself and telling yourself that life is short, so if you want something, go out and get it.”

InstaBAND, a documentary directed by industry vet Bob Rose, is set for release on July 28. The film profiles a number of up-and-coming bands and artists as they navigate through the music business. The Ries Brothers are one of the acts featured in InstaBAND, which shows how these artists have adapted to the many technological changes in the industry such as the use of social media and livestreams to grow their fanbases.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 20, The Ries Brothers will take to YouTube at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT to air their Sugarshack Sessions ahead of a live Q&A and performance. Some of the proceeds will go toward MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.
