Watch Reyna Tropical Drop ‘Malegría’ Cuts ‘Live On KEXP’

Reyna Tropical recorded a Live on KEXP back in July. The project led by guitarist Fabi Reyna delivered four tracks from their 2024 album Malegría for the Seattle-based listener-supported radio station.

Reyna Tropical released their debut full-lenght album Malegría on March 22 through Sylvan Esso‘s Psychic Hotline imprint. The new record marks Reyna Tropical’s first since the untimely death of co-founder Nectali “Sumohair” Diaz in 2022.

Fabi Reyna honored their late bandmate by including material on Malegría they worked on together. Fabi and Nay Mapalo (bass, sampler, percussion) launched their KEXP session with tracks two and three from the 2024 LP, “Radio Esperanza” and “Cartagena.”

Reyna and Mapalo continued with Malegría deep cuts, “Suavecito” and “Conocerla.” The session came to a close with “Conexión Ancestral.” Watch Reyna Tropical perform Live on KEXP and also chat with host Albina Cabrera below:
