The Shaky Knees Music Festival returned to Atlanta’s Central Park this past weekend after two installments at Centennial Olympic Park. Once again, the three-day event hosted a diverse batch of acts on its stage with Jack White, David Byrne, Fleet Foxes, Courtney Barnett, Japandroids and Franz Ferdinand among those performing on Friday alone. White pulled from his various projects and brought out Esther Rose for “What’s Done Is Done.” Byrne fit in plenty of Talking Heads gems such as “I Zimbra,” “Once In A Lifetime” and “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody),” while Barnett put a focus on the forthcoming Tell Me How You Really Feel.
Saturday’s bill included sets from Queens Of The Stone Age, The War On Drugs, CAKE, Parquet Courts and Manchester Orchestra. QOTSA delivered a career-spanning set, CAKE delivered such beloved favorites as “Frank Sinatra,” “Never There” and “Short Skirt/Long Jacket” and The War On Drugs performed five tunes from the Grammy-winning A Deeper Understanding within their set. The big news from Sunday’s finale was Tenacious D surprising fans by revealing the sequel to their The Pick Of Destiny movie is coming in October. Meanwhile, The National fit in material from Sleep Well Beast, High Violet, Trouble Will Find Me, Boxer and more. Nataniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Lord Huron, The Voidz and Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real were also among the acts that closed out this year’s festival. Photographer Ryan Myers was on the scene and has provided a gallery of the action from Shaky Knees ’18:
