Report: Grateful Dead To Reissue First Ever Single For Black Friday Record Store Day

By Scott Bernstein Oct 17, 2016 11:58 am PDT

In the Summer of 1966 the Grateful Dead released their first single via the tiny Scorpio Records imprint. If a report from our friends at The Future Heart hold true, fans will be able to purchase a reissue of the 7″ this Black Friday in honor of the recording’s 50th anniversary as part of the Record Store Day promotion on Friday, November 25.

The 7″ features a pair of traditional jug band songs as “Stealin'” is on the a-side and “Don’t Ease Me In” is on the b-side. Alternate takes of the songs were included on the 2001 box set The Golden Road. The Future Heart notes the reissue “is officially sub-titled ’50th Anniversary Vinyl Singles'” so it’s possible additional early singles will be issued. Stay tuned for more information and head to The Future Heart for the site’s list of Black Friday Record Store Day 2016 releases.
