Report: Billy Corgan Shopping Smashing Pumpkins Reunion For Next Summer

By Scott Bernstein Jul 29, 2016 12:52 pm PDT

After seeing how much money reunion tours such as Guns N’ Roses’ current outing featuring Slash and Duff McKagan performing with Axl Rose have grossed, it appears Billy Corgan wants in on that action. Consequence of Sound reports an industry source has indicated Corgan is “shopping a Smashing Pumpkins reunion for shows and festival slots next summer.”

If the reunion does happen it would be the first time the classic Smashing Pumpkins lineup of Corgan, guitarist James Iha, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and bassist D’arcy Wretzky will have shared the stage together since D’arcy left the band in 1999. Chamberlin rejoined Smashing Pumpkins last year and Iha sat-in earlier this year.

Today’s report comes after Corgan took to Facebook yesterday to reveal “there’s some big stuff happening” in Pumpkin land and that “we’re making plans. I can’t give that way, but it’s going to be interesting. Stay tuned!
