Singer-songwriter Warren Zevon sadly lost his battle with cancer 14 years ago today. The Chicago-born musician was just 56 years old at the time of his passing. His all-too-short career produced song after song exemplifying Zevon’s cunning wit, expert wordplay and tender honesty.

In remembrance of Warren, presented below is official video footage of his appearance at the Bridge School Benefit concert hosted by Neil Young at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California on November 6, 1993. The six-song set marked Zevon’s only performance at the annual charity events.

Playing a 12-string acoustic guitar, Warren began his set with a cover of the traditional “Lakes Of Ponchartrain” and followed with his “Searching For A Heart.” Young then emerged with an acoustic guitar to duet on “Splendid Isolation,” a song on Zevon’s album Transverse City that also featured the Canadian rocker. Warren then moved to piano for solo renditions of “Tenderness On The Block” and “Frank And Jesse James.” Zevon was also at the piano for his set closing offering of his classic “Werewolves Of London.”
