Remembering Page McConnell’s High Sierra Workshop In 2007

Last week, organizers of the High Sierra Music Festival unveiled the first phase of the 2017 lineup. Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio and bassist Mike Gordon will each bring their solo bands to Quincy, California between June 29 – July 2. With Trey and Mike heading to High Sierra next summer, it had us thinking about Phish keyboardist Page McConnell’s wonderful and emotional workshop at the 2007 installment of the event.

McConnell starts off the session with a cover of Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” and runs through Phish classics “Strange Design,” “Army Of One” and “Wading In The Velvet Sea” in addition to “Maid Marian” off his solo debut. Page even closes the workshop in fitting fashion -with his iconic “Squirming Coil” outro solo. Along the way he takes questions from fans. Check out how it went down thanks to video shared by The Phish Jams:

Here’s hoping Trey and/or Mike host workshops at High Sierra ’17.
