By Team JamBase Sep 16, 2016 • 4:49 am PDT

Each week Release Day Picks profiles new LPs and EPs Team JamBase will be checking out on release day Friday. This week we highlight new albums by TAUK, Dawes and Led Zeppelin. Read on for more insight into the records we have all queued up to spin.
TAUK – Sir Nebula

The Scoop: Instrumental quartet TAUK aim for “a more ambient-electro sound” on their just-released third studio album, Sir Nebula. Once again the band has teamed up with producer Robert Carranza whose past projects include work with Mars Volta, Los Lobos and Jack Johnson. TAUK mixes road-tested tunes with originals yet to be played live over the course of the 12-track effort to provide fans with fresh sounds. Unlike past LPs, TAUK recorded Sir Nebula in one concentrated period of time instead of spacing out sessions when they could find time between tours. Watch the video for “Horizon”:

Dawes – We’re All Gonna Die

The Scoop: It seems almost too easy to take Dawes for granted. They’ve seemingly been a reliable constant like a well-worn pair of jeans since releasing their instant-classic debut, North Hills, back in 2009. The L.A.-based act have toured relentlessly and have earned the reputation as the go-to backing band for like the likes of Jackson Brown, Robbie Robertson, Elvis Costello for full-on tours and one-off performances. For their fifth studio-album, We’re All Gonna Die, the band has taken a cue from a number of their contemporaries – Jim James, Alabama Shakes and Lucius, whom all appear on the album – mixing slinky noir-funk sounds with their ever-evolving take on breezy 1970s So-Cal country rock. At the center of it all is Taylor Goldsmith’s songwriting with mixes soul-barring confessionals with sly Warren Zevon-inspired observations on life. Check out the video for the album’s lead single “When The Tequila Runs Out”:
