Release Day Picks: March 25th New Releases
By Team JamBase Mar 25, 2016 • 8:15 am PDT

Each week Release Day Picks profiles new LPs and EPs Team JamBase will be checking out on release day Friday. This week we highlight new albums by Austin rockers White Denim and conscious music collective Satsang. Read on for more insight into the records we have all queued up to spin.
White Denim – Stiff

The Scoop: Over the course of six studio albums White Denim have managed to transform themselves from an acid-drenched, proto-punk garage rock band with a propensity to play intricate angular music that sounded like it could fall apart at any moment into a prodigious, psychedelic blues-rock band that arguably could go toe-to-toe with any act on the Lockn’ bill. The Austin-based act have managed to combine ZZ Top’s Texas-boogie with elements of both the Talking Heads and the guitar shredding of dare I say the Disco Biscuits. The follow-up to their 2013, Jeff Tweedy produced album finds White Denim continuing to mature into a powerhouse jam-rock band, finally landing at a point where they can fuse their muscular musical chops with lead singer James Petralli’s songwriting. Satsang – The Story Of You

The Scoop: Out of Red Lodge, Montana comes conscious music collective Satsang who today release their new studio album The Story Of You. The trio is highly recommended if you like the music of Michael Franti & Spearhead, Xavier Rudd and Nahko & Medicine For The People as Satsang’s music touches on some of the same concepts and vibe of those acts. Satsang, which features Drew McManus (guitar/vocals), Karl Roth (bass, keys, vocals, Weissenborn) and Keller Paulson (drums/percussion), enlisted Roth to produce the self-released effort which blends reggae, hip-hop and folk to create a sound all its own.
