Each week Release Day Picks profiles new LPs and EPs Team JamBase will be checking out on release day Friday. This week we highlight new albums by Neil Young and Holly Bowling. Neil Young – Peace Trail

The Scoop: The ever-prolific Neil Young today releases his 37th studio album, Peace Trail. Young recorded a batch of ten new originals with bassist Paul Bushnell and drummer Jim Keltner over the course of four days earlier this year at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studios. Neil tapped John Hanlon as co-producer on the mostly acoustic effort. Peace Trail comes just six months after Young issued Earth, a live album featuring Promise Of The Real. Holly Bowling- Better Left Unsung

The Scoop: When pianist Holly Bowling came onto the scene, she focused strictly of interpretations of Phish songs and jams. Then, JamBase enlisted Holly to record a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Eyes Of The World” for our 2015 video series in honor of the band’s 50th anniversary, Songs Of Their Own. Bowling went on to add additional GD songs to her live sets and recorded a full batch of Dead covers for the 13-track effort Better Left Unsung, which hits stores and online outlets today.
