Reid Genauer & Folks Play Great American Music Hall In San Francisco – First Set Video

Singer-songwriter Reid Genauer and his musical friends played the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco under the “Reid Genauer & Folks” moniker this past Friday night. Video of the guest-filled first set has surfaced and can be viewed below.
Genauer was joined by his longtime Strangefolk band mate Jon Trafton for what was the pair’s first appearance at the venue since a 1999 Strangefolk gig. Reid called the band “Assembly Of Jon” as it also featured Assembly Of Dust members Jason Crosby, Dave Diamond and John Leccese as well as second drummer Jay Lane. AOD guitarist Adam Terrell was unable to make the show due to travel issues and Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz was also unable to attend.
The band opened with a series of Assembly Of Dust favorites: “Second Song,” “Man With A Plan” and “Whistle Clock.” Jon Trafton then stepped into the spotlight to lead the ensemble through Strangefolk’s “Whatever.” Up next was “Cabin John,” a Strangefolk tune AOD also plays regularly. Moonalice’s Roger McNamee joined in on “Honest Hour,” an Assembly Of Dust original which Roger has performed with Crosby for their Doobie Decibel System project.
Dave Diamond took a rare turn on lead vocals and guitar for a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Deal.” Terrapin Family Band drummer Alex Koford, who opened as part of Colonel & The Mermaids, took Dave’s spot behind the drums on “Deal.” Genauer & Folks continued the set with “Rachel” and then brought the frame to a close with an interesting arrangement of “Hey Jude” by The Beatles.
