Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers Play Ramones Cover In Public For 1st Time Since 2007

Red Hot Chili Peppers delivered a Halloween concert at the Estadio Nacional in San Jose, Costa Rica on Tuesday. The rockers brought their cover of the Ramones’ “Havana Affair” into a public sphere for the first time since 2007.

Red Hot Chili Peppers performed the track off the Ramones’ 1976 self-titled debut album recently during an acoustic performance at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music annual benefit gala in their hometown of Los Angeles and at a 2009 award ceremony also in L.A. The band’s 2023 Halloween performance of “Havana Affair” in Costa Rica, however, marked the first public performance in 16 years, as per SetlistFM stats.

RHCP last played “Havan Affair” in public on July 7, 2007 at the renowned Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Watch the latest performance of the Ramones cut coming in the 12th song slot below:

The Chili Peppers kicked off the Costa Rica concert with a jam ahead of “Can’t Stop,” off their 2002 album, By The Way, followed by additional favorites “Scar Tissue” and “Dani California.” RHCP also delivered songs off both their 2022 albums in “Aquatic Mouth Dance” from their April 2022 LP Unlimited Love along with “Eddie” and “Carry Me Home” from October 2022’s Return of the Dream Canteen.

After Unlimited Love lead single “Black Summer,” RHCP sealed their set with the title track to By The Way. The Peppers returned for a two-song encore of classics from their landmark 1991 album Blood Sugar Sex Magik, delivering “Under the Bridge” and “Give It Away.”
