Groove it on over…
Big Boss Man: Last Man On Earth

Not sure how Big Boss Man has stayed off my radar for 15+ years, but I’m glad I finally got around to discovering them. Their newest album, Last Man On Earth, is a vision of old school organ groove music. This is boogaloo of the highest order, certain to shake your body, but also pushing the time-tested genre in interesting ways. The album is a “concept album” about…the last man on earth, like a throwback soundtrack to a shagadelic movie from the ’60s that never got made. Lots to love here.

Third Coast Kings: West Grand Boulevard

If you dig on the old school funkity-funk, boogie right on over to the Third Coast Kings. This Michigan octet is the genuine article and their newest, West Grand Boulevard, is a delicious set of groovy R&B throwback. Chugging rhythms, dance-floor bass, Nocentelli-esque guitar and a big, bad horn sound makes this one pretty hard to resist.
