Ray Davies Announces Solo Album ‘Americana’ & Shares Single

The Kinks founding member Ray Davies has announced the upcoming release of his new solo album Americana. The album features the single “Poetry” which has been shared in advance of the record’s April 21 release on Legacy Recordings.
Davies, who was recently knighted by the Queen Of England, last issued a solo album of original material via 2007’s Working Man’s Café. The new record Americana shares a title with Davies’ 2013 memoir and features 15 songs “inspired by Ray’s years touring the United States with The Kinks” which were the focus of his book. Davies was supported on Americana by The Jayhawks during recording sessions held at Konk, the studio established in 1973 by The Kinks.
A second volume of Americana is slated to be issued later in 2017. NPR shared the lead single off Americana, stream “Poetry” below:
