RAQ announced a two-night stand at Nectar’s in Burlington, Vermont on October 14 and 15. Marble Eyes will open both shows.
Nectar’s mark hometown concerts for RAQ as the band was formed in Burlington at the dawn of the century. Tickets are on sale now.
RAQ took the stage this past weekend for two nights at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, Massachusetts. Longtime members guitarist Chris Michetti, keyboardist Todd Stoops and bassist Jay Burwick were joined by drummer Adrian Tramontano (Kung Fu/Twiddle) for the band’s first shows since 2018. Original keyboardist/vocalist Marc Scortino sat-in with RAQ for portions of each concert.
Friday’s show saw RAQ jam “Beauregard” into “Shirley Be A Drooler” to open the evening’s first set. Scortino emerged a few songs later for a new version of “Mammamoth” and stuck around for a cover of Steely Dan’s “Showbiz Kids” and oldie “Donkey Show.” The second set of the weekend began with “Hannah Can” and went on to conclude with “Tunnel Vision” and “Late Night.” RAQ covered “Bennie And The Jets” by Elton John as the encore.
“Clamslide” was selected to open Saturday’s concert. “Down Low” and “Bootch Magoo” followed. Classics “Walking In Circles” and “Stuck In A Hole” came next along with a take on Steely Dan’s “Green Earrings.” The final set of the weekend was highlighted by a fierce “Carbohydrates Are The Enemy” and Burwick’s “Sweet Cream Butter” banter. RAQ and Scortino put an exclamation on the evening with a “Wax” encore.
