Railroad Earth, Billy & The Kids & Snarky Puppy Share Red Rocks Stage

Last night Railroad Earth staged a show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado along with Billy & The Kids and Snarky Puppy opening. Members of first-time Red Rocks performers Snarky Puppy made the most of their appearance, joining the Grateful Dead drummer’s outfit and returning with Railroad Earth at the end of the night after opening the evening’s festivities.

Following Snarky Puppy’s opening debut Red Rocks set, Billy & The Kids featuring drummer Bill Kreutzmann, bassist Reed Mathis, keyboardist Aron Magner and guitarist Tom Hamilton delivered a performance of songs made famous by the drummer’s former band and Jerry Garcia. During their cover of “Me & My Uncle” the band welcomed RRE’s Tim Carbone to add fiddle. Later in the set Snarky Puppy’s horn section came back to help out on “Loose Lucy.” Billy and crew closed their set with “Casey Jones” before turning the night over to Railroad Earth.

RRE took the stage to perform the night’s closing two sets and it was during the second half of the New Jersey-based band’s performance when Snarky Puppy horn section members Chris Bullock, Justin Stanton, Jay Jennings and Mike Maher emerged to supplement “Hard Livin’” and the second set closing “Take A Bow.” Railroad Earth closed the night with a bit more Grateful Dead, encoring with “Terrapin Station” followed by “Long Way To Go.”
