Radiohead Covers ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’

On a few occasions in the early-1990s Radiohead performed a live cover of “Rhinestone Cowboy.” Renowned country musician Glen Campbell, who this week died at the age of 81, had a massive crossover hit in 1975 with his recording of the song penned by Larry Weiss. This installment of Throwback Thursday revisits Radiohead’s arrangement of the twangy tune.

According to stats on Setlist.fm, Radiohead covered “Rhinestone Cowboy” a total of five times, first on December 1, 1991 and most recently on June 20, 1993. An undated recording of Thom Yorke leading the nascent group on a live rendering of the Campbell hit surfaced as far back as 2008.
