Radiohead Busts Out ‘I Promise’ For 1st Time Since 1996

Last night’s Radiohead concert in Oslo, Norway featured the band performing a song for the first time in 21 years. The audience at the Oslo Spektrum was treated to the first “I Promise” played by Radiohead since 1996.

Radiohead recently shared a video for “I Promise,” a previously unreleased track that’s part of OKNOTOK, the upcoming 20th anniversary expanded edition of their album OK Computer. Performed live a few times in 1996, the song had been abandoned for more than two decades prior to last night’s bust out.

“Normally, I don’t think we’re the sort of people to look back – but, it was interesting, when we did, what a bunch of nutters we were and probably still are,” frontman Thom Yorke told the audience at the start of the encore. “One of the things, one of the crazy things we did was not release this song, because we didn’t think it was good enough.”
