Queens of the Stone Age swung by the KEXP studios in Seattle on April 29 before their The Catacombs Tour gig at the Paramount Theatre. The rockers delivered a four-song set for the Seattle-based independent radio station, which has been posted to YouTube today.
QOTSA’s The Catacombs Tour featured the expanded lineup that has joined the band since they filmed their Alive In The Catacombs concert film in July of 2024. Frontman/guitarist Josh Homme, multi-instrumentalist Troy Van Leeuwen, bassist Michael Shuman, multi-instrumentalist Dean Fertita and drummer Jon Theodore were accompanied by a string quartet, four-piece horn section and additional drummer at KEXP.
Homme led the ensemble through “Someone’s In The Wolf” off Lullabies To Paralyze (2005) to get the 36-minute set underway. The band then looked to 2002’s Songs For The Deaf for “Mosquito Song” before performing “Keep Your Eyes Peeled” from …Like Clockwork (2013). Queens Of The Stone Age ended their KEXP session with a theatrical version of Them Crooked Vultures track “Spinning In Daffodils.”
