Pro-Shot Videos & Audio: eTown Shares First Of Two Broadcasts Featuring Bob Weir

By Scott Bernstein Sep 27, 2017 1:33 pm PDT

Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir recorded an interview and performance for the long-running eTown program at eTown Hall in Boulder on Wednesday, August 2. Today, eTown has shared the first of two broadcasts featuring Weir and John Fullbright.

Weir’s first performance on the episode was a stripped-down solo rendition of the title track from last year’s Blue Mountain LP. Bobby then trotted out a solo acoustic version of the Grateful Dead classic “Loose Lucy” ahead of Blue Mountain’s “Lay My Lily Down.” Next, the guitarist sat with host Nick Forster to discuss his latest album, childhood, the origins of his relationship with Jerry Garcia as well as the Dead’s trip to Egypt in 1978.

After the interview, Bob Weir was backed by Nick Forster on pedal steel guitar, vocalist Helen Forster, guitarist Steve Kimock and the eTown Band for “Only A River.” Weir’s portion of the episode came to a close with a full-band “Ripple.”

Bob had made his first appearance on eTown way back in 1993 with Rob Wasserman. Look for the second installment to surface next week. The program is nationally syndicated on NPR.
