Pro-Shot Video: Trey Anastasio Trio Performs ‘Twist’ In New Orleans

Last weekend, guitarist Trey Anastasio led the Trey Anastasio Trio through three performances at The Civic Theatre in New Orleans. The penultimate stop of the trio’s first tour since 1999 included many tour debuts. Professionally-shot video featuring one of those tour debuts from Friday, April 27 has just been shared by the group.

Anastasio, bassist Tony Markellis and drummer Russ Lawton offered their first-ever take on the Phish classic “Twist” as the second song of the second set on April 27. Markellis and Lawton provided a steady groove over which the guitarist soared. Trey utilized a Whammy pedal throughout his solo with great success to the delight of the capacity crowd. It wouldn’t take long for the trio to take another stab at “Twist,” as Russ, Trey and Tony performed the song just two nights later at the tour closer in Atlanta.
