Pro-Shot Video: The String Cheese Incident Busts Out Santana Gem In Boulder

In 1977 Santana issued the groundbreaking double album Moonflower which mixed both studio and live tracks. The LP finds the group working jazz themes into the usual Santana fusion of Latin and blues-rock. Earlier this month The String Cheese Incident busted out a cover of Moonflower’s title track and today the band shared pro-shot video of the performance.
SCI’s recently completed Winter Carnival 2017 – Roots Revival Tour saw the band dust off old originals and covers at nearly every stop and was filled with impressive performances at intimate venues. Cheese started the run with two shows at the Fox Theatre in Boulder on March 3 and 4. On the second night, the home state heroes played “Moonflower,” a song written by Santana collaborator Tom Coster, for the first time since 2014 and just the second time since 1998. The instrumental is right in SCI’s wheelhouse and they did the cover justice.
