In February, legendary vocalist Robert Plant will embark on the first North American headlining dates of his upcoming tour in support of the recently released Carry Fire. Plant’s initial performance of 2017 came for a BBC Session held in London on October 6. The former Led Zeppelin frontman and his band dusted off a Led Zeppelin classic as part of the session and pro-shot video can be viewed below as this week’s Sunday Cinema selection.

Robert Plant wrote “In The Light” with John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page for inclusion on Led Zeppelin’s iconic 1975 album Physical Graffiti. John Paul Jones is said to have penned most of the song with Plant contributing a few lyrics and Page adding compositional elements to the final product. Led Zeppelin never played “In The Light” live in concert.

While Zeppelin didn’t perform the song, Page and Plant did in the ’90s. Robert Plant debuted the live rendition of “In The Light” with his solo band in 1994 as per Setlist.FM. Jimmy and Robert then played over a dozen versions with their Page & Plant band between 1995 – 1998. In 2001 and 2002, the vocalist sang “In The Light” with his Strange Sensations outfit. However, the Physical Graffiti gem disappeared from Robert Plant’s repertoire after a lone 2002 performance. In October, the famed frontman finally brought back “In The Light” for a handful of Fall 2017 performances with The Sensational Space Shifters. As mentioned, the first “In The Light” in 15 years was filmed for a BBC session.
