Last Friday Phish held a Summer Tour concert at Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Their well-regarded return to the place fondly known as Great Woods included a lengthy second set rendition of “Light,” official video footage of which has been shared by the band.

Coming out of an exploratory “Ghost” that began set two, “Light” emerged and soon shifted into a highly rhythmic portion of improvisation. Bassist Mike Gordon and drummer Jon Fishman drove the band through several passages of deep, intense jamming that led to a funk-infused, “woo”-filled breakdown. Guitarist Trey Anastasio and keyboardist Page McConnell then lock into a patiently developed theme that hits a soaring peak before a concluding stretch of ambience.

The “Light” from Mansfield clocks in at 19:18 in the official video that can be viewed below:

Phish’s Summer Tour continues on Friday, July 15 with the first of two shows at The Gorge in George, Washington.
