Earlier this week, moe. announced plans for a summer tour. The run begins with three nights at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, California in which the band will team up with old friend Phil Lesh. On June 29 and 30, moe. will play the Grate Room with Phil as special guest before they co-headline the venue’s outdoor space with Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band on July 1. moe. last came together with the Grateful Dead bassist for a phil.moe set at the 2017 Lockn’ Festival. Relix recently shared professionally-shot video of the opening song from the performance.
moe. bassist Rob Derhak was home as he had recently been diagnosed with cancer. Derhak watched the performance via a robot with a video camera that he operated remotely. Thankfully, Rob successfully underwent treatment, has since been declared cancer-free and returned to the stage with his mates earlier this year.

The phil.moe collaboration at Lockn’ was the penultimate set of last year’s festival. Lesh led the group through one of his signature songs, “Box Of Rain,” to open. Phil wrote the American Beauty gem with lyricist Robert Hunter as a song to sing to his dying father. While Lesh endured some feedback issues towards the beginning of the phil.moe “Box Of Rain,” the ensemble recovered to finish the song strong.
