Pro-Shot Video: Jackie Greene Leads All-Star Grateful Dead Tribute At Brooklyn Bowl

Brooklyn Bowl in New York City hosted a show billed as “Grateful Dead Appreciation Night” to raise funds for Rock & Wrap It Up on Thursday night. Jackie Greene and his group served as the house band with jam scene all-stars making appearances throughout the night.

Greene took the stage with his mates Nathan Dale on guitar, Fitz Harris on drums and Jon Cornell and the quartet did a fine job as house band. The foursome was joined by moe. guitarist Al Schnier and Dead & Company keyboardist Jeff Chimenti to start the night. The same lineup also played “He’s Gone” ahead of a “Scarlet Begonias” > “Fire On The Mountain” that showed off the skills of Twiddle’s Mihali Savoulidis and Kimock’s Leslie Mendelson. Up next was a “That’s What Love Will Make You Do” featuring Greene’s band along with Mendelson and Gregg Allman Band guitarist Scott Sharrard. The Jackie Greene Band ended the set alone for a tender “So Many Roads.”

Last night’s second set started with Greene and Mendelson on keys and Mihali and Al on guitars for “Shakedown Street.” Scott Sharrard then led the Jackie Greene Band through the Allman Brothers Band classic “Don’t Keep Me Wondering” and teamed with Leslie Mendelson to front a beautiful rendition of “I Shall Be Released.” From there, the Jackie Greene Band was augmented by Schnier and Mendelson for “Jack Straw” and “Don’t Let Me Down.”

Thursday’s second set drew near a close with a “China Cat Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider” featuring Greene’s band along with Mendelson, Schnier and Savoulidis. “Sugaree” served as a grand finale with many of the evening’s guests adding to the cover. Head here to donate to Rock & Wrap It Up.
