Pro-Shot Video & Full Show Audio: Dead & Company Brings Tour To Cleveland

Last night Dead & Company hit the penultimate city on their cross-country summer tour when they pulled into Cleveland for a show at the Blossom Music Center. The six-piece band surprised fans with a free webcast of the entire show, which saw them offering up two sets of Grateful Dead classics.
Dead & Company wasted little time getting the show off and running with Bob Weir’s barroom rocker “Hell In A Bucket,” which was followed by another stand-out version of the summertime anthem “Mississippi Half Step Uptown Toodeloo.” Bobby’s trucker ode “Black Throated Wind” was up next, with John Mayer then stepping up to sing lead for the first time last night on “Row Jimmy.” A take a on Johnny Cash’s “Big River” preceded an eleven-plus minute version “Cassidy” and the 2017 debut of “Big Railroad Blues,” the 103rd unique song that D&C have played this summer, which closed out the first set.
The night’s second stanza kicked off with the traditional pairing of “China Cat Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider,” that saw Mayer ripped off some impressive solos. Mayer and Weir then shared vocal duties on “He’s Gone,” that segued into a rockin’ version of “Truckin’.” Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann took over next as the Rhythm Devils got their time to shine during the “Drums” portion of the night with the band returning to the stage for “Space.” “I Need A Miracle” became the landing point out of the psychedelic-exploration, with “Wharf Rat” occupying the ballad slot last night. Old-school rocker “Good Lovin'” gave Bobby one more time to shine as it wrapped up the set. The band concluded the evening with “Black Muddy River,” the last song the Grateful Dead ever played.
Dead & Company close out their summer tour this weekend with a pair of sold-out shows at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, which can be streamed via nugs.tv.
