Pro-Shot Video: Father John Misty Full Performance On KEXP

Earlier this year, Seattle-based record label Sub Pop released the third Father John Misty album Pure Comedy. Frontman Josh Tillman recently appeared at Seattle’s independent radio station KEXP to perform several songs from the record.

Following an introduction by host Cheryl Waters, a duo of Tillman on vocals and acoustic guitar with accompaniment from FJM pianist Jon Titterington offered arrangements of the first four tracks on Pure Comedy. The pair began with the title track and between chats with Waters followed with “Total Entertainment Forever” and “Things It Would Have Been Helpful To Know Before The Revolution.” The four-song set ended with Tillman and Titterington playing “Ballad Of The Dying Man.”

Tillman reportedly told an audience at a recent show in Sydney, Australia that a follow-up to Pure Comedy was being mixed for a 2018 release. He tells Waters the new record deals with depression, but in “funny upbeat” way. Watch Father John Misty’s KEXP in-studio performance below:
