Dead & Company brought their Summer Tour to Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix last night. The band featuring three of the former members of the Grateful Dead provided officially shot video footage of the first three songs performed to open the concert Sunday in Arizona.

Presented as a “taste” of the recently unveiled eight-show Unlimited Devotion webcast package, Dead & Co. livestreamed the opening 30 minute sequence from Phoenix in conjunction with The show opened with Bob Weir leading his fellow Grateful Dead band mates Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, along with John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti, through a rendition of “Feel Like A Stranger.” Mayer handled lead vocals originally sung by Jerry Garcia on the subsequent “Bertha,” while Weir was in charge of fronting the group while playing slide guitar on the vintage “Minglewood Blues.”

Sunday’s first set also feature such Grateful Dead staples as “Cassidy,” “Loose Lucy,” “Sugaree” and “Samson & Delilah.” The second set was built around the regularly partnered “Lost Sailor” > “Saint Of Circumstance,” “Scarlet Begonias” > “Fire On The Mountain” and “Drums” > “Space,” with “Crazy Fingers,” The Beatles’ “Dear Prudence” and “Casey Jones” also making it into the set. The triumphant “Touch Of Grey” served as the evening’s encore.
