Talented bluegrass picker Billy Strings was a constant presence at this year’s Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, which was held July 19 – 22 on the Walsh Farm in Oak Hill, New York. Strings not only sat-in with a number of acts but also performed three sets with his own band. LessThanFace Productions shared professionally-shot video featuring a song from his set on July 20.

Billy Strings, mandolinist Jarrod Walker, banjo wiz Billy Failing and bassist Royal Masat played a 70-minute set on Grey Fox’s High Meadow Stage on July 20. Strings & Co. were joined by multi-instrumentalist Molly Tuttle for a gorgeous rendition of the Grateful Dead’s “To Lay Me Down” towards the end of their set. The pair previously performed the song at a tribute to Jerry Garcia held in March.

Strings noted that Tuttle is his roommate but that he and Molly are on the road so often they rarely see each other. “This is just nice that we get to get together right here on the stage at Grey Fox,” Billy said as part of his introduction.
