Pro-Shot: Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Shares Acoustic ‘Terrapin Suite’ Video
By Andy Kahn Oct 9, 2016 • 7:19 am PDT
As reported, on Friday Joe Russo’s Almost Dead played the second of three nights at Brooklyn Bowl in New York City during which John Mayer sat-in with the Grateful Dead Tribute act. Like Thursday’s opening show of the Fall Ball II run, JRAD also set up on a small stage for a mini-acoustic set, and the band has shared a lengthy video highlight of Friday’s “unplugged” segment.
Drummer Joe Russo, guitarists Scott Metzger and Tom Hamilton, (upright) bassist Dave Dreiwitz and keyboardist/accordionist Marco Benevento offered a three-song acoustic performance on the separate stage built on the venue’s bowling lanes. After takes on “Jack-A-Roe” and “Dark Hollow” the ensemble tackled the expansive “Terrapin Suite” from the Grateful Dead’s 1977 album Terrapin Station.
